What are the benefits on a silk pillowcase?
The benefits of sleeping on a silk pillowcase are aplenty!
Say Bye-bye to bed hair
The most common fabric used for pillowcases these days is cotton. Cotton, especially those with a low thread-count, can cause much drag and tugs at your hair. Over time, your hair cuticles are roughened and damaged, resulting in tangles, breakages and split ends. Hair glides on silk rather than rubs, reducing static, so you can wake up to smoother, shinier tresses!
No more sleep creases
Because of the soft and smooth texture of silk, it reduces the drag on your facial skin when toss and turn. As such, this minimize sleep creases on your face when you wake up, which could potentially form wrinkles in the long run. No wonder some people call it the overnight anti-aging treatment!
Lock that moisture in
Cotton absorbs moisture. When worn, this usually does not cause much problems. However, sleeping on cotton everyday can take a take a toll on your skin as it loses moisture to the fabric. Moisture laden cotton also forms a breeding ground for bacteria, potentially causing acne breakouts. Silk, on the other hand, keeps your skin hydrated and healthy.
Pamper your skin
Silk is an entirely natural material and is considered to be hypoallergenic, friendly to even the most sensitive skin, and especially gentle to babies’ skin. You can be sure that you are treating your skin to the most luxurious therapy.
Silk also regulates temperature and adjusts comfortably to ambient temperatures, keeping you cool on warm nights and warm on cold nights.
How do I care for my silk pillowcase?
Silk is a delicate fabric that requires special care. As long as you follow the proper cleaning instructions below, your GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL silk pillowcases can stay looking new for as long as you own them and outlast cotton or synthetic versions. Best of all, silk is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, and does not absorb odours so your pillowcase will stay fresh for longer and requires minimal laundering!
Hand wash our GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL pillowcases in cold water (less than 30°C) and mild soap. As silk fibres are especially fragile when wet, do not scrub the material. Gently move the pillowcase from side to side for three to five minutes before removing from water. Do not soak silk for excess periods of time. Rinse the pillowcase lightly with clean, cold water.
Do not wring silk. Instead, lay the pillowcase flat on a piece of absorbent towel and roll it up to remove excess moisture.
Hang our GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL 100% pure silk pillowcases on a padded hanger to air-dry. Silk dries very quickly.
Silk should only be ironed when damp. If the pillowcase has dried, add moisture to it with a damp cloth before ironing. Use a low or silk setting iron to smoothen out the creases.
It is natural for silk to lose its luster over time but it will become softer. Some people find that they love their silk pillowcases more after a few washes.
How does SEE YOU TOMORROW ensures the quality of the silk pillowcases?
SEE YOU TOMORROW is an advocate of sound and quality sleep. As such, we pledge ourselves with the responsibility of using only natural and skin-friendly fabrics for our apparels and accessories.
Our GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL 100% pure silk pillowcases are made from high quality 22-momme mulberry silk with a charmeuse finish.
Momme is the unit used when describing the weight of silk threads, similar in concept to the property of thread count in cotton fabric. Silk of a low momme (16-momme) is often lightweight, flimsy and does not hold up well to washes. On the other end of the spectrum, silk of a high momme can be awfully costly. Most silk pillowcases in the market are 19-momme. At SEE YOU TOMORROW, we use 22-momme silk, which means that the weave is tighter, the finish is glossier and the fabric is thicker and far more durable.
We are proud to say that our suppliers meet the very stringent international Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, which means that the textile raw materials, the intermediate and end products, including the dyes used in the processes, do not contain any harmful or toxic substances.
What are the sizes available?
Currently, our GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL 100% pure silk pillowcases are stocked in 51 x 76 cm, which is the international standard for pillowcases.
