Nora pulls her blanket over her knees, her head hung low as though deep in thought. She taps her fingers on her bed nervously, wondering if she should fall asleep at all.

Nightmares. She has had several for a few nights in a row now. She places her hand over her chest to calm her racing heart. Palpitations. Sighs. She has never felt so afraid & helpless before.

Peering over the window sill from the end of her bed, Nora spots a twinkling red star in the distance. She shuffles under her sheets and closes her eyes, bracing herself for yet another nightmare.

When Nora was younger, she used to look for monsters under her bed. She stopped when she realized they are inside of her instead.
